This post is my writing this is called a pick a path story and my learning intention  for this is to write a narrative story with a beginning middle and end. This story also gives you a choice to pick a path to witch way comes next.. What I found hard while writing this story is that I struggled to find ideas and I spent really long trying to find ideas. I enjoyed writing this story and I will be presenting it to one of the  junior classes at Kawakawa Primary school.

mercury

In class we have been learning to gather information, and put it in our own words using a report. this is a report that my friend and I  have written about mercury. before i learnt how to put information into my own words,I just copied and pasted information, but now I know how to use my own words and I no longer copy and paste information into my work.

Mercury
Mercury is a planet, the closest planet to the sun. It is the smallest planet in the solar system with a size of 2,440 kilometers. The scientific name for mercury is hydrargyrum, which means liquid silver. The name mercury came because it was the fastest planet to go around the sun so it was named after the roman messenger god mercury.

appearance
Mercury's surface is made up of craters caused by space rocks, mercury has a thick surface of iron core, often mercury appears as a bright star. Mercury looks a bit like earth's  moon as like our moon mercury is covered in craters too.

Solar system
Like every other planet in the solar system, mercury too orbits around the sun, but while earth’s orbit lasts 365 days mercury’s orbit lasts 88 day’s. When mercury orbits the sun, it travels at 58 million kilometres in the 88 days of orbit. It moves at a speed of 48 kilometres. Mercury is the closest planet to the sun and the eighth largest moon.

Environment
Mercury is is the closest planet to the sun. Because of that, mercury’s surface temperature can reach a scorching heat of 450 degrees celsius. Because mercury has hardly any atmosphere at all, it does not have any weather such as storms, clouds, winds, or rain but it does have sun.

Mercury is not a very explored planet, only two spacecrafts have visited mercury during 1974 and 1975, Due to the scorching heat on mercury the two spacecrafts that visited mercury they were destroyed within hours. But no human being has ever been to mercury before.
